1. Maslinic acid [MA] is an inhibitor of glycogen phosphorylase. This study was done to engineer the effects of MA on noetic ischemia [restriction in blood supply] in hyperglycemic rats to draw out multiple biological activities. Hyperglycemic rats were made by injecting streptozotocin [natural chemical that induces type I diabetes]. diabetic rats treated with high-dose of MA had lower blood glucose level. Conclusively, MA showed anti-diabetic wont in rats and direct beneficiary effect in cerebral ischemic injury by promoting glutamate clearance by GLT-1 regulation.

Glycogen phosphorylase degrades glycogen in animals by releasing glucose-1-phosphate.
