Fences, by August Wilson, is a play astir(predicate) the struggles of African Americans in the last half of the twentieth century. Struggles in black society did not end with their emancipation from bondage but continued as they tried to find legitimate salvagedom and inner peace. In their search, they left their roots and locomote northward with hopes of finding open doors, opportunity, and acceptance.
