Recreation and Leisure for the Scandinavian
Often ages mod culture believes whatever happens now and what will happen tomorrow constitute the greatest ideas, inventions, events, etc of all time. To be sure numerous modern inventions and ideas ease up led to an abundance of free time in the lifestyle of industrialized cultures. However, and hopefully there wint be any argument, recreation has been done real since the beginning of time. All cultures have ways to relax, recover, build alliance and friendships, and just have fun. This includes the Norse people, besides whatsoevertimes called the Vikings, who originated in the Scandinavian region. Their homeland energy be harsh, cold, and unforgiving. This means they might have had less time than even other cultures about the seven to twelfth centuries, but even they developed their let ways of recreation and leisure.
Like many ancient cultures, some of the recreation and leisure actives resembled or helped improve war skills. They had go competitions, which westerners might have called a drowning competition (Short). There is also a game using a hard ballock and bat, but not much is known besides that it was distillery fairly violent and extremely vigorous (Short).
They also had wrestling matches, called glima, and even these could turn bloody. Their wrestling rules were different than most. They stood facing separately other, and the goal was to throw their opponent to the ground (Short). The way Norsemen fought included a lot of grappling and this no doubt helped them maintain and improve their skills.
