Joe McCarthy accused many members of the U.S. State Department with having communist beliefs. The Cold War was the cause of the accusations made by McCarthy afterwards the Bolsheviks were renamed as Communists and suspicions arose that there were Communist spies in the United States. all in all it took was one of McCarthys speeches which addressed his concern of possible Communists in the State Department, to cause the nation to be troubled everywhere the matter. The validity of his accusations were questionable to many and also caused many to be confused. Despite the fact that Joe McCarthy identified a number of State Department members as being communist, he was still unseasonable in his assessment of them regarding their threat to U.S. interests.
