Maintaining a safe and supportive skill environment
A safe learning environment is principally the responsibility of the instructor, who should outline what the learners can expect from the teacher and land of learning in respect to safeguarding at the stage of induction. Aspects of maintaining a safe environment include;
General health and prophylactic such as; fire exits and assembly points, taking registers and depression aid procedures.
Keeping and maintaining records with confidentiality.
As a teacher, undertaking a CRB check.
Maintaining a duty of care towards learners.
Carrying out risk assessments.
Inducting learners to the lend and learning programme.
Although it is the job of the teacher to make these points clear to the learners, it is alike the duty of the learner to maintain personal responsibility for themselves, however, in some situations as with the young or the vulnerable more care and guidance needs to be taken by the teacher.
Support should be shown to all learners, without discrimination or judgement. Aspects of maintaining a supportive environment should include;
Initial assessments, to determine the authorized skill level of the learner and whether they may need either extra support.
Referring learners to other people or agencies if or when necessary.

Appropriate behaviour is the responsibility of both the teacher and the learners, however, it should be established and continually enforced by the teacher. impertinent behaviours usually derive from a lack of respect, perhaps because of someones race, beliefs, sexual orientation etc, but a teacher needs to practice good classroom management in order to eradicate any of these prejudices.
