A Trip to the Toy Store and Down Memory Lane

For this writing assignment I have visited a few swindle stores (Toy House, Toys R Us) recently to do Observational and descriptive research on gender role development in the boys and girls sections for ages 4-7 years of age. nearly of the things that I noticed right away in the boys sections were that about 70% of the toys were louder and made many different sounds. Some of these sounds were that of fire truck sirens, play toy guns, and action figures that spoke words. There were risque systems you could play right there on sight to try some video indorses before buy them as well. When I was younger, I remember having to buy the game before you could play it and there was only one game system out then and that was Sega genesis. The boys sections were filled with colors of black, blue, reds, greens, and sunglasses of yellow. Theses colors brighten up the section to help them place upright out for the little boys to see. Honestly, I dont remember all the colors, I was just happy to see and frustrate to buy some of the toys. The boys section also had toys hanging from the pileus as a display such as toy airplanes and helicopters.



This makes the toys more appealing to the eyes of the child and also helps food market certain brands to them. Some of the displays are Legos, foam Nerf guns, and Fisher Price. And of word form there is always a display for the Energizer bunny rabbit batteries because most toys do not include them. They have balls of all shapes and sizes from baseball, basketball, football and even little bouncy balls. Some of the phrases employ to render the sections are building skills, reading, educational DVDs and sports.
