        The first time I heard this quote I was under the impression that Socrates meant unless you do something that others will consider, and so your scratch and butter is not cost(predicate) bread and butter. Now, I realize what he was reflection was that unless a person looks deeper into their lives, past what they do in their effortless lives, to why they are present, and to what their destiny is, thither is no worthy in such a shallow vivification.         To a philosopher elbow room is nothing if not something to ponder and question.
